Four Things to Know About The Woodlands
1. The Woodlands, Texas, is a township. This means that there is a local board of directors that runs the basic governance of the township. Originally founded in 1974, The Woodlands had several different governing agencies and community service providers. In January 2010, these agencies all came together to create efficiencies and formed the township.
2. According to American City Business Journals, Houston and The Woodlands are the fifth-fastest growing metropolitan area in the nation. That means that the economy and jobs market in this area are exceptionally strong and are projected to be so for the next several decades. Buying a home here now is solid investment that will very likely appreciate in the foreseeable future.
3. The medical community and access to care are top notch in The Woodlands. The brand new Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands has just opened for outpatient services and its Emergency Center and inpatient care will open in April. This facility will be the area’s first dedicated pediatric hospital and have neonatal and pediatric intensive care units, along with 32 acute care beds and 4 operating rooms. Also slated to open in 2017, Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital will be the eighth in the Houston Methodist system, offering The Woodlands community a full-service, acute care hospital. Add to these the existing CHI St. Luke’s Hospital and Memorial Hermann Hospital, there should be no medical condition or emergency that can’t be handled close to home.
4. Some of the best concerts and performances are practically in your own backyard at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. Located at the end of the Woodlands Waterway, this outdoor amphitheater hosts everything from rock concerts to the Houston Ballet. You can hear the Houston Symphony perform Disney hits, see a Beatles tribute band or party with the latest hip-hop artist. Set on a hillside with great views from every seat, plus lawn seating, the pavilion is a great place to spend an evening.
